Elephant Caddy

I am going through my fabric stash and clearing out odd bits.

I found enough of this elephant fabric to make a small caddy

 The inside is a crisp white woven upholstery cotton (another left over)

 I drew the elephant to resemble the ones on the fabric and used a wide zig zag stitch for his ear.

The camera has not caught the shade very well, it is actually a deep turquoise, almost teal blue.

Elephants are so cute, aren't they?

More sewing adventures tomorrow.

Fabric Baskets for Babies and Kids- Taupe Dotty Teddy Pocket Friend

Dotty by Clarke and Clarke arrived in Taupe in Saturday morning's post.

I had to add to the collection and make another fabric basket

Don't they look great together?

I also made a fabric basket for a baby boy with elephants. 

and  one with Red Riding Hood style fabric

I picked out some details with red stitching and realised backstitching was a bad idea

Some check ribbon sewn to the top for contrast 

 and the pockets on the inside because the outer fabric was too cute to hide

I am now experimenting with my first ever boxed zipper pouch.

Sunday Stash 11th May 2014

For a couple of weeks, I only bought boring supplies like fusible fleece and white thread, so there was nothing to report.

A very nice discovery in a craft store- a multi pack of cross-grain ribbon

The pastels are divine shades of spring

I also bought this linen look cotton, elephant parade on grey- looks a bit green here

A lovely bright stripe in 100% quilting cotton

And a rose bunch floral, Vintage Rose Garden on Mint

Can't wait to sew the elphants.
